The Tin Man with a Treasure in his Chest (Prima Marketing)

Dear crafty friends,

When I saw those shutters in my DT box, I was wondering what I would do with them. They were beautiful, but I really didn't have any idea on how to make them special enough.

I looked closer and I couldn’t help but thinking of a rib cage. So there it was : I’d make a puppet. I named him The Tin Man with a Treasure in his Chest after the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz.

After adhering everything together, I covered everything with black gesso.

I used lots of Art Alchemy Metallique paints. to get that metallique finish. I just love how it turned out.

I used cheap sponge brush to make his arms and legs.

Here is his chest. On the outside, I used paper flowers and a paper clay shape, along with old metal letters.

Inside his chest, I used lots of Mechanicals and chipboards (gears), all covered with black gesso and waxes.

I heard people at Creativation loved him.

I hope my projects inspire you to think outside the box!

Perfect Moment (Words & Paintery)

Dear crafty friends,

It's already January 15th, so it's time for a new challenge over at Words & Paintery. This month challenge is sooooo dramatic! Love it! Let me show you my layout.

I LOVE purple, and when paired with black and charcoal grey, it gets so intense!

I chose this picture of my dad and me because of the words in the challenge. My father always thought me to be myself, strong and proud. It was the perfect fit.

Papers are from the new 7 Dots Studio Northern Lights.

Flowers and mediums are from Prima Marketing.

Some pretty texture.

I hope you join us for the challenge!

Have a great day.

Complementary Colors (7 Dots Studio)

My dear crafty friends,

First, I'd like to wish you a happy new year 2018! I wish you peace, health, joy and time to spend with your loved ones!

I'm glad to be back for another term here, with the 7 Dots Studio team. Thanks Tusia and Nick for your confidence.

My first layout for this year features the Paint Chips collection. It is called «Complimentary Colors». Here it is.

I'm sorry about the bad reflection on my picture: we don't get a lot of daylight, here, in Quebec, lately, so I had to use my light box to take a picture, and I couldn't avoid the light reflection.

I primed it with clear gesso and created a mixed media background. First, I used the Soulmates Squares stencil with Graphite Texture Paste. I also used Paint Chips Clear Stamps and Northern Lights Clear Stamps with Archival black ink. A few splatters of gold and silver paint along with black and white ink and my background was done.

Under my picture, I used some of the Paint Chips 12x12 Tags and papers from the Paint Chips Pad 6x6.

Here and there, in my embellishments clusters, I used some of the Paint Chips Element Stickers 6x12.

I also used the Paint Chips Word Stickers 6x12 here and there on my layout.

One of those Word Stickers acts as my title piece. I love those words, as they describe perfectly my relationship with my mother (on the picture with me): she complements me. I love her so much!

Products used:
Soulmates - Squares stencil

I hope you like my layout.
Have a nice day.
